Steve Howard::

eLearning is dead. Long live mLearning. Do you care about mobile learning? Why not?

Modern mobile devices are getting more and more powerful. These days even the humble mobile phone is as poweful as the once-ridiculed Personal Organiser. With the advent of PDA phones like the HTC Universal and the Palm Treo 650 and 700w, people are commonly carrying computer devices in their pockets that can often do more than your old Windows 95 PC. Schools, universities and coprorates are looking at delivering training with these devices. We'll take a brief look at what people are doing, from SMS lessons to full-blown multimedia. I'll also demonstrate what sort of interactive multimedia training is possible on a PocketPC that uses text-to-speech and speech recognition to enhance the mobile learning experience.

Building Dynamic Interactions - Double Session
When we are learning Authorware, we find it is relatively easy to build an interaction that allows the user to roll over an image or diagram to view details about the object. We then begin to copy/paste that logic to subsequent similar pages, and thus learn that it is quite laborious to edit that 'model' code to suit the new diagram.

This session will show you how to build a dynamic interaction that takes a minimum amount of effort to modify as it is used in different situations. From this you should be able to begin to build your own, more complex dynamic interactions.

Steve has owned and run the EuroTAAC conference (with help from others) since 2001, and now shares ownership and effort with AC&S. Steve completed his Masters degree in Multimedia Computing in January 2006.

Steve has spoken several times at both EuroTAAC and TAAC over the last few years.
